About The Event

The World Affairs Council of Maine is pleased to share our first Know Your Neighbor Lunch program of 2019! Join us at Baharat as we hear from Sarah, a 17-year old Saudi exchange student who is spending the year with a host family and attending high school in Maine. Sarah is a recipient of the highly competitive Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) scholarship which is awarded to outstanding secondary school students from countries with significant Muslim populations. Sarah will talk about the journey that brought her to the United States, life as a young Muslim woman in Maine, and navigating the cultural differences and similarities between her home country and her host country.
