Education : Special Opportunities
The Council offers opportunities for students to interact with speakers as part of their regular classes. For example, guest speaker Barry Lynn addressed a group from the USM School of Business on the topic of the Global Corporation.
Southern Maine Community College draws on Council members as guest lecturers in its international studies classes. Through their involvement with the Council, some high schools have taken the initiative to expand international learning opportunities for their students. A prime example is Cape Elizabeth High School, which has established its own World Affairs Club. The club has organized several in-school activities in addition to bringing groups of students to many of the Council’s programs.
High school students particularly enjoyed listening to and interacting with the speakers at the Energy Breakfast.
