The World Affairs Council of Maine promotes collaboration and cooperation in public education in international affairs.  An important benefit of membership is learning about program opportunities with organizations having similar interests and missions.

An upcoming opportunity is the L.L. Bean/Lee Surace Colloquium on April 30 at USM with "Confessions of an Economic Hitman" author John Perkins.  A New York Times bestselling author, Perkins will speak at 4:45pm in Luther Bonney's Talbott Auditorium.  Advance registration for this free program is needed.

Additionally, there will be a Model United Nations for Secondary School Students held at USM in Gorham from May 13-15.  See www.memunc.org for more information.  Members of the World Affairs Council and the public are invited to the opening session on May 13 from 6-7pm.

Maine International Trade Day will be held on May 22 at the Holiday Inn By the Bay.  Trade Day 2008: Marketing Green to the World will bring together companies and organizations from Maine, New England, and eastern Canada to discuss emerging markets for Maine's natural and sustainable products.  Come and learn how Maine companies can leverage new technologies and green products for international success.
