Norchi is Professor of Law at the University of Maine School of Law and Research Fellow in the Ash Institute for Democratic Governance and Innovation in the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. His expertise and publications are in international law, law and development, comparative law and maritime law. Dr. Norchi has worked in twenty-three countries, with extensive experience in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Afghanistan. Beginning in the 1980’s he worked in Afghanistan as a journalist, human rights lawyer, and development adviser. Dr. Norchi is Co-Chair of the Geneva-based Institute for Law and Diplomacy. He has served as consultant for the World Bank, UNDP, WHO, UNIDO, the US State Department and the LDESP (Leader Development and Education for Sustained Peace) Afghanistan Program. He is a Fellow of the Explorers Club, Member of the Executive Council of the Society of Policy Scientists, and the Advisory Committee of the Hong Kong Centre for Maritime and Transport Law. Professor Norchi holds a B.A. degree from Harvard University, a Juris Doctor from Case Western Reserve University School of Law, a Masters of Law and a Doctor of the Science of Law from Yale Law School. He was born in Dublin, Ireland.<o:p></o:p>
