The Global Financial Crisis

Postponed!  The volcano is interrupting our programming...

Will be rescheduled in the fall of 2010

6:00-6:30 pm: Meet & Greet with Hors d'Oeuvres
6:30-7:30 pm: Dinner
7:30-9:00 pm: Topic Discussion

Host: Sarah Newick (York, ME)
Moderator: Clifford Gilpin

“The global financial crisis that began in late 2007 revealed major deficiencies in the regulation of markets and institutions all of which came perilously close to collapse. Emergency measures to prevent a full collapse of the global financial system have led to mixed results. How will governments and the world community respond to this challenge?"

This evening program is an opportunity for Council members and their guests to get together for an in-depth discussion of a "Great Decisions" topic, based on background material prepared by the Foreign Policy Association. Each discussion group is facilitated by an experienced Council facilitator and will be hosted by a World Affairs Council member at their private home. Dinner will be provided at the Host's home.

Carpooling will be available from Portland.
