The Governor's International Breakfast has been a long standing tradition at the World Affairs Council of Maine. This year's program will highlight and feature Governor Baldacci's trade mission to Toronto and Vancouver organized by the Maine International Trade Center. It is scheduled to be held on December 9, 2008 at the Holiday Inn by the Bay.
In addition to the Governor's remarks, this year's breakfast will feature Bharat Masrani who will talk about the current global financial markets with special attention to the interrelationship between the US and Canada. |

Bharat Masrani is Group Head, U.S. Personal and Commercial Banking, TD Bank Financial Group and President & CEO, TD Bank. Bharat started his career at TDBFG in 1987 as a Commercial Lending Trainee where he rose to Account Manager, Commercial Accounts in 1988. He progressed through a number of positions and responsibilities before assuming the role of Vice President and Head, Corporate Banking Canada. In 1996, he was appointed Vice President and Country Head for India and then to Senior Vice President, Corporate Finance and Co-Head in Europe in 1997. In November 2006 Bharat was appointed President of TD Banknorth and in March 2007 Bharat assumed the additional role of Chief Executive Officer.
Mr. Masrani obtained his Bachelor of Administration with Honors in 1978 and then his MBA in 1979 from York University's Schulich School of Business. |
