Through the generosity of its members, the World Affairs Council of Maine provides opportunities for members to get together over a meal and discuss a Great Decisions topic. Please join us! Great Decisions Luncheon
Having emerged from authoritarianism in the last 15 years, Indonesia has made remarkable strides politically, economically and socially. Yet the new, democratic Indonesia is still a developing country facing considerable challenges. How can Indonesia continue its path of growth, reform and prosperity? What is Indonesia’s role in the global community?
The lunch will be hosted by Council President Clifford Gilpin. He worked and traveled extensively in Indonesia for the World Bank in the 1980s and early 1990s and managed the Bank's work in education, health and population during that period. Lunch will feature Indonesian curry and other regional specialties.
Clifford Gilpin has a professional background in education planning and human resources. During his career at the World Bank he traveled frequently to Indonesia and managed the Bank's work in education, health and population there from 1987 to 1992. The Great Decisions lunch and discussion will also be an opportunity to share some of the Indonesian art that he has collected.
