David Zarembka graduated with a bachelors Degree cum laude in African History from Harvard University and obtained a Masters degree in International and Development Education from the University of Pittsburgh. He has forty-nine years of involvement in the Great Lakes region, having first worked in the area in 1964 when he taught Rwandan refugees in what is now Tanzania. Since 1998, he has been the Coordinator of the African Great Lakes Initiative of the Friends Peace Teams, a Quaker organization that promotes peacemaking activities with local groups in the region. He currently lives in western Kenya with his wife Gladys Kamonya.

Ambassador Bouhlal

Ambassador Rachad Bouhlal was appointed by King Mohammed VI as Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to the United States of America on December 6th, 2011. He previously served as Ambassador to Germany and to the European Union, Belgium and Luxembourg.

Ambassador Bouhlal also held the position of Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation; Senior Advisor to the Prime Minister for Economic and Financial Affairs; Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Investments; Director of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries and Merchant Marine; and Deputy Director of the Trade Division, Ministry of Finance.

He received his undergraduate degree in Mathematics in 1970 then his MBA in Rouen, France. He was awarded the Order of the Throne of the Kingdom of Morocco; the Commander of the Order of Leopold by the King of Belgium; the Grand Cross of the Federal Republic of Germany by the President of Germany as well as Officer of the Legion of Honor, France.

Mr. Bouhlal is a founding Member of the Ribat El Fath Association for Sustainable Development. He is a pilot and the President of the Rabat Royal Air Club. In addition, Mr. Bouhlal is the President and founding member of the Wildlife Film Festival of Rabat.

Senator Susan Collins

Susan M. Collins was first elected to represent Maine in the United States Senate in 1996.

Known for her work in facilitating bipartisan compromise on important issues, Senator Collins is a key leader in the United States Congress. Her record shows significant legislative accomplishments in critical areas, including homeland security, national defense, disaster response, education, business development and health care.

On July 12, 2012, Senator Collins cast her 5,000th consecutive roll call vote. She has never missed a roll call vote during her entire time in the U.S. Senate.

Committees

Senator Collins serves on the powerful Senate Appropriations Committee, the Select Committee on Intelligence, and as Ranking Member of the Special Committee on Aging.

She previously served as the Chairman and Ranking Member of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee and served on the Armed Services Committee. Senator Collins was also the first freshman senator to ever lead Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations.
