News

The Arctic Council met in Portland recently, and the World Affairs Council of Maine was part of the host committee and events surrounding the meetings.
The Maine Arctic Forum was held on October 3rd, and you can watch the full video here. One of the distinguished speakers was Ambassador David Balton, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Oceans and Fisheries and Chair of the Senior Arctic Officials, U.S. Department of State. Ambassador Balton said this in response to a question about how Individuals and institutions here can stay engaged and plugged in beyond this week:
"A number of you are affiliated with the World Affairs Council, it's another really good way to get involved."
Thank you for that recognition, Mr. Ambassador!
